Deluxe Exchange Event

Challenge

Around the same time of the MasterBrand National Sales Meeting, Deluxe, a banking and financial institution consultation company, partners with Blue Pony every year for the content needs of their national sales meeting, Deluxe Exchange. This year the meeting was held in Boca Raton, FL and took on colorful graphics, projected animations, and new technology to show off all the exciting new plans Deluxe has for 2016.

Process

Deluxe Exchange 2016 was comprised of two main content settings: the general session and the Design Lab. The general session was made up of an introductory video, animations for speakers walking on stage, and looping animations for when guests enter and exit the ballroom.

The Design Lab is an interactive experience where guests explore each of four pillars that represent the life cycle of customer relationship: Acquire, Onboard, Engage, and Operate. This area had a service desk in the center of the room, often called the “genius bar,” where guests could start their journey through the pillars. Blue Pony created content to be played around the room on hanging monitors, a central video over the genius bar, seamless animated projections for the walls which correspond to the theme of each pillar, as well as designing stencils for spotlights, called gobos, to be projected on the walls during the event.

Solution

  • 96% of attendees said the conference met or exceeded their expectations.
  • 100% of attendees said the content was “good” or “fantastic”
  • 95% would recommend DX to a friend or colleague

The event looked fantastic and the guests in attendance were excited and engaged in all the technology and new ideas available to them. Deluxe Exchange proved once again to be a successful and positive experience for all who attended.

MasterBrand Cabinets

Challenge

Every year, MasterBrand Cabinets holds a National Sales Meeting for their employees to encourage, excite, and motivate them for the upcoming year. For this event, MasterBrand comes to Blue Pony to design the look of the event, to create video and audio content, and call the show. So for the 2016 meeting, Blue Pony flew down to San Antonio, TX to be part of this fantastic event.

Process

Before the event even began, the theme of “Designing our Future” had to be designed, animated, and applied to various collateral such as Power Point presentations, Twitter accounts, and printed materials. MasterBrand relied on Blue Pony to work with the venue to create the best layout of screen sizing and placement, stage layout, and guest seating. Concept sketches and storyboards transformed into introductory videos, looping animations that played while guests entered or left sessions, and graphics creating seamless transitions between speakers. After much client communication and collaboration, it was time for content created on a 15 inch monitor to be projected on 15 foot tall screens. As the guests learned about sales goals, team building, and customer service, the Ponies called the show and cued up the content until the final wrap.

Blue Pony was delighted to have the opportunity to participate in an event honoring Pope Francis’s 2015 visit to the United States. We collaborated with Meg Saligman, a world-renowned artist, to incorporate projection mapping into the Mary, Undoer of Knots Grotto installation. This installation was located at the historic Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, where Pope Francis held mass for more than 140,000 people.

The Grotto

The Grotto was found in the courtyard of the Cathedral and centered around a large, open wood structure.1 Visitors could write their prayers and struggles on ribbons and then tie them to the installation. In the tradition of Mary, Undoer of Knots, Pope Francis’s favorite artwork, the undoing of a knot symbolizes freedom from these burdens – a release of pressure. In this way, the audience was able to interact and add to the installation.

Overhead, at more than 300ft above the pavement is the copper dome of the Cathedral. This would become Blue Pony’s canvas. We developed 18 individual sequences that could be played in any order throughout the night. These included bringing lighting the dome with an endless sea of flickering candles, illuminated hands tying knots, and an animated version of the classical painting, Mary, Undoer of Knots.

Challenge

The tradeshow floor is a great place to reveal new, innovative products and cutting edge technology. Cummins Emissions Solutions approached Blue Pony with that exact objective: to reveal a revolutionary product for the trucking industry in an engaging and unique way that would draw in attendees and create buzz. In order to highlight the compact size of the new emissions filter, including a physical example of the product in the experience was one of the client’s objectives. Blue Pony was tasked with creating an engaging way for users to not only see the product in person, but to also interact and learn more through interactivity.

Process

Our team began exploring and comparing / contrasting the benefits of various interactive experiences ranging from projection mapping, augmented reality, interactive touch tables, gesture based holograms, and transparent touchscreens. Each potential solution was explored in the context of the product reveal and tradeshow atmosphere. The client loved the idea of combining a physical product with an interactive touchscreen overlay detailing various features and callouts on the module itself. After this option was selected, we began designing user interface wireframes and concept layouts. A custom display case containing two transparent touch screens, internal lighting, and two computers to run the application was designed and built to fit the style of the client’s existing booth property. The dual screen feature allowed users on both sides of the display to interact simultaneously. Live testing prior to launch allowed for our team to fine tune lighting, UI layout, and overall experience details.

Challenge

RTI Metals, a leader in the titanium and specialty metals industry, approached Blue Pony seeking a powerful interactive sales and marketing focused application with a dual purpose. The application needed to serve as an attention grabbing interactive station for attendees on the trade show floor to learn about the breadth of RTI’s capabilities, and also serve as a streamlined mobile sales tool for their team.  Flexibility was keyword for this project! The application features a fully interactive 3D aircraft which users could explore and learn about the many components RTI designs and manufactures for the aerospace industry. We also created a high energy “attract loop” video that played prior to a user interacting with the screen.

Exhibitor 2014

Timeframe

3 weeks

Challenge

When we realized that Blue Pony had the chance to push boundaries with our booth at Exhibitor 2014, we leapt at the opportunity.

The design of our booth not only needed to grab the attention of conference attendees, but also highlight our abilities as a design studio while satisfying our ambition to tackle new and complicated creative endeavors. Of course, all this still needed to fit into the 20 ft2 of booth space and be finished in to time ship it across the country for the start of the show.

It all added up to just the sort of challenge we thrive on!

Process

Even though the end experience will be totally digital, our designs often begin in a much more traditional medium. Brandon started by sketching up some ideas for the booth design and interactive components.

BoothSketches01
BoothSketches02

Once we settled on design parameters, it was time to dig into the meat of the project. Test renders let us quickly visualize the effects before getting to the final render process.

Solution

Final01_Exhibitor2014

By deciding to take projection mapping into the 3rd dimension, we custom-made our huge, person-sized cube and centered it as the focal point of the booth. This gave us an enormous and unusual central canvas to showcase our work on, which was complimented by two large video screens on either side of the cube.

Final03_Exhibitor2014

The booth was designed to be interactive for the audience, allowing individual users to control which animated sequence played. Each sequence was kept short so several could be played in quick succession, as we’re well aware of how quickly attendees move through a big conference.

Final02_Exhibitor2014

The feedback we got at the show and immediately following let us know that we successfully made our goal: Leave a big impression and make it stick.

We’re not comfortable resting for long, though. In fact, we’re already brainstorming how we’ll top this at next year’s exhibition.
