Deluxe Exchange Event

Timeframe

Challenge

Around the same time of the MasterBrand National Sales Meeting, Deluxe, a banking and financial institution consultation company, partners with Blue Pony every year for the content needs of their national sales meeting, Deluxe Exchange. This year the meeting was held in Boca Raton, FL and took on colorful graphics, projected animations, and new technology to show off all the exciting new plans Deluxe has for 2016.

Process

Deluxe Exchange 2016 was comprised of two main content settings: the general session and the Design Lab. The general session was made up of an introductory video, animations for speakers walking on stage, and looping animations for when guests enter and exit the ballroom.

The Design Lab is an interactive experience where guests explore each of four pillars that represent the life cycle of customer relationship: Acquire, Onboard, Engage, and Operate. This area had a service desk in the center of the room, often called the “genius bar,” where guests could start their journey through the pillars. Blue Pony created content to be played around the room on hanging monitors, a central video over the genius bar, seamless animated projections for the walls which correspond to the theme of each pillar, as well as designing stencils for spotlights, called gobos, to be projected on the walls during the event.

Solution

  • 96% of attendees said the conference met or exceeded their expectations.
  • 100% of attendees said the content was “good” or “fantastic”
  • 95% would recommend DX to a friend or colleague

The event looked fantastic and the guests in attendance were excited and engaged in all the technology and new ideas available to them. Deluxe Exchange proved once again to be a successful and positive experience for all who attended.

Blue Pony was delighted to have the opportunity to participate in an event honoring Pope Francis’s 2015 visit to the United States. We collaborated with Meg Saligman, a world-renowned artist, to incorporate projection mapping into the Mary, Undoer of Knots Grotto installation. This installation was located at the historic Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, where Pope Francis held mass for more than 140,000 people.

The Grotto

Basilica_Web06
Basilica_Web07

The Grotto was found in the courtyard of the Cathedral and centered around a large, open wood structure.1 Visitors could write their prayers and struggles on ribbons and then tie them to the installation. In the tradition of Mary, Undoer of Knots, Pope Francis’s favorite artwork, the undoing of a knot symbolizes freedom from these burdens – a release of pressure. In this way, the audience was able to interact and add to the installation.

Overhead, at more than 300ft above the pavement is the copper dome of the Cathedral. This would become Blue Pony’s canvas. We developed 18 individual sequences that could be played in any order throughout the night. These included bringing lighting the dome with an endless sea of flickering candles, illuminated hands tying knots, and an animated version of the classical painting, Mary, Undoer of Knots.

Blue Pony, in partnership with Sweetwater Sound, developed this 3D mapping animated video for Premier Healthcare’s opening conference ceremony. Collaborated efforts took place with storyboards, hand-drawn illustration, 2D and 3D animation, custom song lyrics and audio recording. The project was a great success and brought the client’s vision to life.

This project was an excellent opportunity for us at Blue Pony to show off our abilities, with projection mapping on a unique surface.

The client brought some interesting concepts to the table, with the most important being that it grabs the attention of trade show by passers. We were successful at accomplishing this task, as well as creating a memorable experience for many.

Story boarding and sketches are essential for a project of this size.

Challenge

When we realized that Blue Pony had the chance to push boundaries with our booth at Exhibitor 2014, we leapt at the opportunity.

The design of our booth not only needed to grab the attention of conference attendees, but also highlight our abilities as a design studio while satisfying our ambition to tackle new and complicated creative endeavors. Of course, all this still needed to fit into the 20 ft2 of booth space and be finished in to time ship it across the country for the start of the show.

It all added up to just the sort of challenge we thrive on!

Process

Even though the end experience will be totally digital, our designs often begin in a much more traditional medium. Brandon started by sketching up some ideas for the booth design and interactive components.

BoothSketches01
BoothSketches02

Once we settled on design parameters, it was time to dig into the meat of the project. Test renders let us quickly visualize the effects before getting to the final render process.

Solution

Final01_Exhibitor2014

By deciding to take projection mapping into the 3rd dimension, we custom-made our huge, person-sized cube and centered it as the focal point of the booth. This gave us an enormous and unusual central canvas to showcase our work on, which was complimented by two large video screens on either side of the cube.

Final03_Exhibitor2014

The booth was designed to be interactive for the audience, allowing individual users to control which animated sequence played. Each sequence was kept short so several could be played in quick succession, as we’re well aware of how quickly attendees move through a big conference.

Final02_Exhibitor2014

The feedback we got at the show and immediately following let us know that we successfully made our goal: Leave a big impression and make it stick.

We’re not comfortable resting for long, though. In fact, we’re already brainstorming how we’ll top this at next year’s exhibition.

Challenge

We partnered with DWP Live and Barco to create a unique projection mapping experience during CinemaCon 2013 on the facade of Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.  Barco came to us about a month before the event, a sprint in anyone’s book!  We worked quickly to create a concept and storyboard centered around 100 years of movie magic.  Barco loved the concept and gave us the green-light.  It about 3 weeks, we developed about 5 minutes of custom content highlighting the golden age of black and white films, the revolution of technicolor, westerns, musicals, sci-fi, action adventure and more!

Process

Any projection mapping project has to start off with an accurate scan of the surface to be mapped.  Our partners at DWP took reference pictures and created a 3D model and template for us to use.

Template1000

Once we had a 3D Model, we began to build 3D and 2D content.  For an intermission segment, we designed falling candy and bouncing popcorn that went along with animated cartoon candy boxes dancing to the 1950’s classic, “Lets All Go to the Lobby”.

Solution

The results were stunning and truly impressive.  The Caesars Palace facade is massive and the perfect canvas to project on.  The event attendees cheered and applauded as they viewed this unique journey through cinema history.

MG Design Video Production and Booth Content

Exhibitor 2013

Challenge

Partnering with MG Design means we get to create some wildly imaginative content for an amazing exhibit house.  MG came to the table with a great theme and asked us to develop visually arresting and humorous motion design elements to cover their huge fabric screens.  Using acronyms like “LOL” and “OMG” we created funny faces, surfer dudes crashing into waves and even a dinosaur tromping across the screens.  Transitional animations helped tell the story along with an animated portfolio of their booth designs.  We also created an interactive app that interfaced with the wall screens that allowed booth visitors to take a picture of themselves and post it along with the acronym of their choice.

MG commissioned us to film a short promotional video highlighting their booth and capabilities.  What a great way to show of not only MG Design but Blue Pony’s contribution to their content as well!

Process

Of course, MG created the booth design.  We then worked with DWP Live to create a projection template for the curved walls.

MGBooth

When we had a template we began mocking up the booth images with static examples to allow MG to preview our ideas.

MGBoothConcepts

We created alot of content.  Here are a few examples.

To accomplish its goal of making a splash at Exhibitor 2013, MG needed an amazing booth design and attention grabbing content.  Let us help you bring traffic to your trade show booth by including dynamic and effective content, no matter what the scale!
